little boy

Thomas was playing "World War I" yesterday and I had another one of those thoughts of, "this is your baby. He's 8 years old, he won't be like this for very long." I must admit that I got a lump in my throat. I was in the kitchen and luckily just happened to have my 70-200 lens mounted on my D-90, ready to fire so I could capture this sweet moment. As I type I have tears in my eyes thinking about how I am just so seriously blessed! (LOL! if you know what I mean) I'm savoring these little moments while he is on track break from school.

So then this morning, Thomas walked into the laundry room where I was trying to help our pathetic cat with eating. (more about Kip to follow) I noticed his hair completely frizzed out in the front and thought to myself, wow this kid had quite a night. Then he says to me with a big smile on his face, "Last night I rubbed my hair on a blanket and I put my finger above the blanket and then lightening came out of my finger and hit the blanket!"
I need a macro lens (hint hint, sweetheart) to have captured the amount of matting he had achieved with his little science project. It puts new meaning of the term, pillow perm.
You may also notice he has the same purple shirt on as yesterday's army shot. Don't worry, he's had it on for about 5 days now. He wears it for jammies too. It's a vintage looking Utah Jazz shirt and he REALLY likes it. Maybe it will give the Jazz some luck this week!

Kip had some surgery on his leg yesterday and Thomas called this apparatus, the Cone of Shame.

For a month now, Kip has had this leg injury that kept getting worse, obviously it was infected, so I took him in to get it fixed. Poor little thing. He keeps running into walls and is quite beside himself. He has a drain in his leg, therefore the need for the Cone of Shame on his head.

Poor Kip. I bet he hasn't complained much though. He's such a good sport. LOVE the 'tongue licking the water' photo. :oP

P.S. It is so hard to see your baby grow up! Adam has two loose teeth now and I am sad. I admit, I shed some tears when he showed me.
