SCARY!

I was doing some Halloween decorating in the house when downstairs I heard a noise that sounded like a picture falling off the wall. This happens a lot around here because I spent a small fortune on those dumb 3M velcro type picture hangers. (they work great on really small stuff that is not on a curved wall, which I have a lot of) Anyway, I walked up our front staircase and heard this crackling sound. It kept going on and on. I looked in the direction it was coming from and saw my front door shattering right in front of my eyes!! SCARY!! I was hoping it wouldn't pop out and shoot glass into my eyeballs. So I called Maryanne to tell her. She had left my house not five minutes before. She didn't answer. So I sent my friend, Lynette a text. She came right over with a broom and dustpan and garbage bag. Since the glass was still in place she suggested taping up the glass with plastic bags to catch any glass that might start falling. Phew. She saved the day and my sanity.
The sad irony is Tom and my wonderful painter, Teo just a month ago gave our door a much needed makeover with insulation around the glass, replacing the trim and re caulking stuff, then a fresh coat of paint. Now we have to remove the trim and 1 million pieces of glass and replace it, then repaint! Oh well, at least I still have my eyeballs.

It does have kind of a spooky Halloween feel.
left=broken side * right=unbroken side
hmm, maybe I should shatter the other side and just leave it, that would certainly be a lot easier than going to all the previously mentioned hassle
The glass looks just like my crackle glass Christmas ornaments.

Here are the doors right after the makeover.

The crackle glass actually looks really cool--unsafe, but cool. And what would we all do without Lynette?!!;) Btw, I love your new Halloween background-it's so purple and so you!!!!

That is so cool looking! (Probably not what you want to hear, but it's true!) Sorry I didn't answer the phone, I was on my cel phone talking with my allergy doctor. I'm glad you still have your eyeballs. See, it could have been SO much worse!

Well I guess I need to get off your blog and go look for a stack of missing envelopes. Bleah.

That is so scary, and luckily it happened when you were home, rather than away. You would have thought soomeone vandalized it maybe. They are beautiful doors. I'm glad your eyeballs are fine and good ol' Lynette came to the rescue.

Wow, that's the first I've seen of the new paint on the doors. They look so fabulous! It's a shame Teo and Dad have to redo all that work, though.

Can't wait to tell you all about my vacation!
