first day/ first tomato

Our first tomato of the season, yippee! Tom walked in with this little cutie this evening, rinsed it off and set it on the counter. I snatched it right up, grabbed my camera (which is usually within 10 feet of me at all times) and plopped it in the window sill and snapped away. I couldn't decide which picture I wanted to post, so I posted both of them. I wonder which one you like better?

Just so you know, he picked this at the perfect stage of ripeness in my opinion. He knows what I love and I love tomatoes like this. Maybe my poll should ask if I should eat it sliced with cottage cheese tomorrow for lunch or on a piece of toast with a little salt sprinkled on the top. Or maybe sliced and drizzled with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and a touch of basil...decisions, decisions...

This picture captures a bit of how happy Thomas was today about his first day of 4th grade. He loved his teacher and is excited for the new year.

Well, your tomato looks a LOT better than our first harvest. We have a serious case of end rot! Ugh.
