Remember what a perm is?

Madison enjoys doing different things with her hair, and gets bored if it is the same for more than a few months.  A couple of weeks ago, in keeping with her usual behavior, she considered cutting it short again.  But her mind changed when she looked at some pictures of a Lord of the Rings character who has long, flowing, wavy hair.  Deciding she'd grow it out, and still desiring a change, she asked me to give her a perm.  I was delighted because perms bring back such good memories for me.  (Ah, remember the days, Valerie, in beauty school when we used to wrap a perm every day on our mannequins?  We used to give them names, though I cannot remember my mannequin's name.)  Anyway, we took pictures of the process.

The house smelled great the day of the perm.  :P

The Big Reveal

If only I could go back to 1986 when perms were cool.  I wish they would come back in style.  Man, life was so easy when you had a perm.  You just wash it, let it dry, and voilá, you hair is styled.  Maybe Madison will start a perm revival!

Boy did this post bring back plenty of memories!! My mom used to give us perms at home, no formal training mind you, though mine never looked like Madisons--she's a bombshell! You did good:)

It's been so fun to have a perm. Thanks, Mommie! You're the best hairsmith in the 'verse.

I remember my first perm. The year was 1980, sixth grade. My hair was so long it was BELOW my bum! We couldn't afford to go get a professional perm so my mom attempted it herself. Because of the ridiculous length of my hair, she could only roll the rollers up about 8 inches on the very bottom, thus only the very bottom of my hair had a perm. Oh wait! She did my bangs too - that was a sight! Needless to say, it was hideous but I thought I was so cool. I had finally arrived ;o)

Madison's hair looks great. I don't even think it looks like a perm - tres au natural!

I am glad perm days are over. They were a pain in the butt to do.
