Morgan was coming unglued with excitement to get our new chicks. Our chickens from last year one by one saw their demise when they tried to play with our neighbors yellow lab. They just didn't get it when one would go over and never come back. It will be nice to have fresh eggs again in 90 days. We got seven chicks total. The dark one is Thomas' and the yellow one belongs to Brinley.

Cuuuute! I love those chicks. Now, Thomas doesn't think the darkest one is his, right? 'Cause that one is mine. His is the other dark one. I'm still working on a name for mine, though.
Oh, that made me giggle! Our yellow lab, Yaki, would love to play with your chicks...but I think the outcome would be the same.
Cute chicks! I've never really noticed a difference between any old eggs and freshly laid eggs. Can you really tell any difference? Other than the fact that it's an adventure each day to gather the eggs and have some fun for the kids? I am almost certain they wouldn't survive here, but I think it's great you do that.
In the desert we would have fried chicken!!
