After I found out the news I was so sad and crying on the couch. Thomas and Brinley came and sat down right next to me on either side. Brinley wanted to lean her head on my shoulder. We were all shedding some tears when Thomas got up and came back with his special teddy bear to hold. He then touched its paw on my cheek to help comfort me as well. His tender expression was so heart felt and appreciated. These two sweet children loved this dear man but understand that he is now rejoicing at the reunion with his beloved wife, Marjorie and find happiness in that.
Out of the mouth of babes..... Our family on Monday night had a discussion about President Hinckley and wrote in our journals, hoping to capture the feelings we had about this great man. Without help from anyone, Thomas wrote in his journal with simple expression and child like understanding. In case you can't see what he wrote, I will copy it: Thomas (he likes to write his name fancy in his version of cursive) Jan. 28' 2008 Gordin B hinkly died. My mom was sad also me Thomas. That is so sweet. What a wonderful man and prophet of God we were able to know for several years. Our family also paid tribute to President Hinckley for our Family Home Evening on Monday by reading his recent Priesthood session conference address on Anger. It was a good lesson and we sang "We Thank Thee, O God, For a Prophet" for the opening hymn and the first verse of "Praise to the Man," which was written about Joseph Smith, but seemed to fit.

That is the sweetest story ever! And I have to say this about the bear; That bear is the one that we gave the children last year at our Primary breakfast when we introduced the theme for 2007. We told the children that every time they looked at him or gave him a hug, we wanted them to remember the theme "I'll Follow Him in Faith". How appropriate that Thomas used this bear to comfort you when you were sad about the prophet's passing- the bear that reminds us to follow our Savior in faith.
Man, just thinking about him makes me cry. I'm glad you posted those pictures, and especially Thomas's journal entry.
