So Tom and the boys were getting all bundled up for sledding on Saturday and as usual my kind husband who never wants to leave me out of anything, invited me to join them. He tried the same thing last week and I gave him the old stand by answer of, "no thank you dear, I am too old." Yikes! I hated hearing myself say that. I hate writing that! But it is true! It is so true because why I am too old is this: I am not too old to do it. I can sled. I can do stuff like that. It's just that I am too old to crash. My mind hates crashing and there is always a potential for crashing. When I was young, my mind didn't hate it as much. And you get all wet and cold and I don't know, it's just so overrated. Anyhoo, as they were putting on their 35 layers of clothes I had the most brilliant of ideas. I could use my sweet new camera lens! I CAN DO THIS AND IT WILL BE FUN. Tom will be so happy that I came out and I will actually learn something.
I took over 400 pictures, people! True. I made about 395 mistakes, but I learned so much! It was thrilling. It was so much fun. I had WAY too much fun.

Taking pictures when the sun is shining and the earth is white teaches you a lot about aperture and ISO.

We are so lucky to just go out our back gate and walk onto the golf course to access this hill.
Taking pictures when the sun is shining and the earth is white and your objects are moving really fast teaches you a lot about aperture, ISO and shutter speed! It was one of those photography lessons on crack. I had so much to learn all in one shoot.
Tom had almost as much fun as I did.
They made a jump and layed under it which gave some perspective on the deal. We had to really talk Thomas into doing it though. He was so worried he would hurt his dad. We kept reassuring him that everything would be just fine.
We all had so much fun and to be honest, I got hot.
It's fun to take winter pictures!!! It really is.

Snow Day!!! Way too much fun.. except Morgan and Brinley weren't out there getting all wet and cold. Nice lens BooBoo. Nice!! aka..Aunt Gabby
Ah-ha!! Your secret is out! We are on our way over...with hot chocolate and all the trimmings, of course;) Sweet lens!
Ohhhh! Such great photos! What lens is it? I got a new lens...a 1.4 (Maryanne's suggestion) and was over having a lesson at her house on NY day. That is when we discovered my camera is a sad, sick camera and needs a repair. I am barely learning about apeture and shutter speed and....sigh.
My lens is a 70-200 2.8mm Kris. It is a monster, a really sweet monster. I have so much to learn with photography, it's nice to have good tools to work with. That is so great about your new lens. That takes beautiful pictures, believe me!
they turned out awesome. thanks again for the crash course!!
Looks like loads of (boy) fun! Glad you love your new lens :o]
Looks like a fun day for everyone.
I just cannot believe my YOUNGER sister actually uttered the sentence, "I can't because I'm too old." Personally, I will NEVER use that phrase. No way. I'm NOT going to turn into my mom on that account! lol. (Sorry, Mom, if in the ever so slight chance you will actually be reading your child's blog, but you know what I mean.)
Hi, this is Eduardo (Tracy's husband).
Nice pictures! I know that lens is big and heavy, but it really pays off whenever you want to use it for action shots, or from a safe distance.
My favorite picture is the one with Tom's leg up, and the only suggestion is to get Nathaniel in focus the next time.
Other than that, nice job!
Eduardo.
