A beautiful woman

I am in awe of this woman, have been since I was 13 years old. I was in 8th grade when I read the Diary of Anne Frank the first time. Miep Gies was one of the people responsible for helping hide the Frank family for two years from the Nazis. She was the person who picked up all of Anne's papers and diaries after the raid in the annex and gave them to Otto Frank. If found out, she most definitely would have been sent to a concentration camp. Without her selfless actions, we would never have a story of Anne Frank.
I read of her passing today and bawled my head off. I love her!
She is how I want to be.
Read this article I found to hear a better summary of this remarkable woman.

So interesting! We went to Anne Frank's house several years ago...such amazing, sad history. We just watched The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (fiction) and it was pretty devestating.
Could I please borrow your amazing picture of the eagle in your tree? If so, could you send it to me at mnkmonson@msn.com? My nephew is getting his Eagle and I want to put it on a card for him. If not, that's OK also. I could put a picture of Yaki in a cowboy hat on it instead. teehee

I also cried this morning when I read about her death. She was a remarkable yet humble woman. I love her book 'Anne Frank Remembered.' I want to read it again now. I feel so lucky we were able to meet her in person a few years back and listen to her tell her story. Amazing. Can you imagine the reunion she is having with the Franks?! I'm sure it's wonderful.

Oh, how sad! I had not heard the news until now. What a woman. May she rest in peace.
