King of Pop

Morgan sent me a text saying Michael Jackson had died this afternoon. To say I was shocked was an understatement. My heart missed a beat and I thought it was a joke. It wasn't a joke. The King of Pop has died, along with part of my childhood. I was a huge MJ fan back in the day. I remember getin' down to Rockin' Robin as a little kid. Kelly owned Off The Wall. I owned Thriller. I think I probably watched the Thriller video about a hundred times, as a former MTV junkie. My kids are big fans. Madison owns a dvd collection of his videos. We love to dance to his music. Billie Jean has been my ring tone on my phone for the past two weeks.

It made me sad when he got so freaky. I was kind of hoping his comeback would somehow redeem him in a way. Fame that huge is lethal, think of Elvis. It is a tragedy for sure. Read this article by Bob Lonsberry that sums it all up better than I can.

I loved this album, and this is the way I prefer to remember how he looked.

Here is a link to a YouTube video of Michael at the age of 10 singing with his brothers. It will knock your socks off.
Click on this link to watch another video of a great song he sung on Soul Train when he was just 14 years old.

This news was seriously heartbreaking. Sure, he was an oddball, but his talent was unmatched in the entertainment industry and still is, in my opinion. Rest in peace, Michael.

This is one of those things where everyone will remember where they were when they learned that Michael Jackson had died. I was on my way into Costco when I got a text from you, "Michael Jackson is dead."

Unbelievable.

Lindsey texted me with the news. It was sad and surprising. Age 50 is too young to die.

BTW, you can always remember Kelly's birthday now. We were celebrating it the day of MJ's death.
